Founder

James Fisher is an Australian bassoonist and woodwind teacher. After graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2015 with a Bachelor of Music in Performance he moved to London where he graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music with a Master in Performance in 2018. In recent years he has played with many UK and international orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra (Denmark) and as Guest Principal Bassoon with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He is currently a bassoonist with the Southbank Sinfonia holding the Sir Charles Mackerras Chair, with additional support from the Tait Memorial Trust.

James has a passion for music education. Over the past ten years he has filled many teaching roles in both Sydney and London. These roles include classroom music teaching, private instrumental teaching and concert band directing and he is looking forward to more intensive teaching whilst connecting his outstanding colleagues with many students through fishermusic.

The decision to establish fishermusic was based on James’ extensive teaching experience which includes the all too frequent difficulties and frustrations shared by teachers, parents and pupils. Whether it is issues around lesson scheduling, invoicing/payments, clear communication or just finding a suitable teacher, fishermusic was created to remove all of these burdens.
